In today's rapidly evolving work landscape, internships play a crucial role in bridging the gap between academic learning and practical experience. At Aavii, we recognize the value that interns bring to our organization and the enriching impact they have on our team dynamics. We sat down with two of our interns - Jackson and Janice to gain insights into their experiences, aspirations, and contributions during their time with us.
How have you found the transition from academia to the workplace, and what have been some of the highlights of your internship so far?
Jackson: Transitioning from academia to the workplace has been eye-opening for me. I have appreciated the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios and collaborate with professionals in the field.
Janice: Similarly, the transition has been smooth thanks to the supportive environment here at Aavii. I have enjoyed the hands-on experience of working in events and the chance to learn from industry expertise and vendors as well as experienced colleagues.
How do you feel your internship experience aligns with your career goals, and what skills or lessons do you hope to take away from this opportunity?
Jackson: My internship experience has provided me with invaluable insights into the world of events, meetings, and team building. I have gained practical skills in event management, as well as technical skills in Microsoft Office, IO, Mail Merge, etc. I know these skills will serve me well in my future career endeavors.
Janice: For me, this internship has polished my technical skills and problem-solving abilities. For example, I learned how to manage vendors to ensure all aspects of the event ran smoothly. On top of that, I learned to prioritize tasks and allocate time efficiently —all of which are essential skills for my future career goals.
Finally, how is your overall experience with Aavii and any tips you would give to future interns looking to make the most of their internship opportunity?
Jackson: One of my proudest comprehensions during my internship was Aavii’s focus on Customer Experience. It provided me with a clear understanding on how to manage our customer’s journey from pre to post event. My tips would be to approach your internship with an open mind and a willingness to learn.
Janice: I like how Aavii embraced diversity and inclusivity, creating a welcoming environment where employees from diverse backgrounds felt valued and respected. I would also encourage future interns to make the most of networking across different divisions because it might be a valuable insight you might gain along the way.
As we wrap up our conversation with our interns, we at Aavii are always on the lookout for outstanding interns who bring enthusiasm, talent, and fresh perspectives to our teams.
